Halloween 2012
We celebrated Halloween last night by having a few friends over for dinner, then we headed out to trick-or-treat around the block. I tried to get creative with the food...
Jude and Noah both started out as Ninjas. Jude promptly fell (or was pushed, depending on who you ask)into the pool! He didn't seem to mind having to change into an old Spiderman costume.
Lily was a lady bug for her first Halloween. She stayed up for the party, but didn't make it far trick-or-treating. She was more than ready for bed!
All of the big kids had fun and got plenty of candy!

Pumpkin Time!
It still feels like summer here in Jacksonville, but the arrival of the pumpkins tells us that fall is here! Lily wasn't quite sure what to think of all of the pumpkins, so the boys picked out a pumpkin for her.

Happy Halloween

Noah dressed up as a Ninja this year and Jude dressed up as Spider Man. We were supposed to go to a neighborhood party, but the host family came down with a stomach bug so it was cancelled. We had a fun evening though, walking around the neighborhood and seeing all of our friends. One of our neighbors puts on a huge haunted house- we debated going through it this year, but we decided to wait a little longer. Neither of us felt like staying up late with 2 scared little boys!

Pumpkin Carving
Dad got back from his week of traveling, just in time to carve pumpkins!

Pumpkins guts are gross!!

The kids were interested for about 5 minutes, but Dad continued on. Everyone was happy with the final product!

Halloween
This year for Halloween, Noah was a Fireman and Jude was a dalmation.

We went a great party at our friends' Ruthie and Edward's House and then everyone trick-or-treated together.

It was a pretty hot afternoon, but the kids all had a blast!

Jack-O-Latern
We finally got around to carving our pumpkin this morning! The boys had fun watching Dad get messy, but neither one wanted to get their hands dirty!
Happy Halloween!

Our Friends Tigger and Pooh
Dad got home plenty early on Halloween and we all had pizza before heading out to trick or treat!

We left a bucket of candy on the porch and loaded up in our wagon to make our rounds.

Jude dressed up as Winnie the Pooh!

Noah dressed up as Tigger!

Last year, Jude was just 2 weeks old so he didn't get to go trick or treating. Noah was an excellent big brother and showed him how it is done.

They had a great time!

Picking Pumpkins
We visited the pumpkin patch last weekend and Noah picked out a few pumpkins for us!

At first, Jude wasn't quite sure what to think of pumpkins.

But after running around for a little while with Noah, he decided they were pretty cool.

Thrilling Halloween
As you can tell from the picture, we weren't sure how our first Halloween as a family of four was going to go. In the beginning, Noah was not very thrilled about his Elmo costume- and Jude was not in the mood for an outfit change. But after we explained to Noah that he would get candy if he wore the costume, he was totally into being Elmo. Dad took Noah for a walk around the block to Trick or Treat and Mom stayed home with Jude. We had planned to hand out candy, but we didn't take into consideration that our roofers would work until after dark (yes, we are getting a new roof). After a long walk around the block, we headed to Daddy John and Noushin's and everyone got to stay up way past their bedtimes! Overall it turned out to be a great Halloween.

Punkins!
We finally made it to the pumpkin patch! Noah goes crazy every time we drive past it and yells "Oh Punkins"! Considering that it closes tomorrow, we decided to load everyone up after dinner and drove over to pick out a pumpkin and take pictures. Noah loved running around looking at all of the pumpkins and he picked out a little pumpkin for himself. We got a couple good pictures of both Noah and Jude so be sure to check them out!

Sneak Peak at Halloween
We are practicing getting Noah ready for Halloween, so every once in a while we have dress rehearsals.
Here is a picture of us during a morning rehearsal (before daddy has showered... so no comments about the greasy appearance!), reading Odd Velvet.
I think he is going to do alright :)

Nesting Instinct
Sherry has been keeping a very clean house lately, and is always folding and refolding Noname's new clothes and arranging and rearranging his box of diapers and wipes and linens. Last night she had me search through our constantly shrinking storage area in our garage for our Halloween "stuff", and while I was working / checking my fantasy football she made our Halloween nest.
It is a comforting feeling to have her in such a state, and although we are scared of the unknown and what having two boys relying 100% on us for their care is going to be like, I once again have the calming feeling that Sherry knows exactly what she is doing, if by nothing more then instincts ... but it is so much more than instincts that give me this feeling.
Sherry, thank you for this... all of it. I love you very much and am so excited about this addition to our family.

Trick or Treat!
Noah enjoyed his first Halloween. We opted to just leave candy on the porch and go visit friends for the evening. We stopped by Grandmas house first.... Noah wasn't quite sure what to think of Don's scary mask and Grandma's witch hat! We also went to a party at Kate's house where Noah got in a fight with a lobster over a toy. Surprisingly, the lobster easily conquered Noah the Lion. Finally we stopped by Ham and Genie's and stood in line with the hundreds of trick or treaters at their house.
