Lily: 4 Months
Lily went to the doctor for her 4 month check up. She weighed in at 14 pounds 6 ounces and is 26.75 inches tall! Noah and Jude were both closer to 18 pounds by this age, so she's quite a bit smaller than they were. She is still a very easy going, happy baby and smiles at anyone who stops to talk to her. The doctor said she was such a happy baby that he'd even babysit her! She got 2 shots at her doctor visit and barely cried. Her brothers are both back at school, so she has been getting plenty of quality time with Mommy during the day. She's also gotten quite used to going with the flow between carpool for school, soccer practice and tennis lessons. We've made no progress with sleeping through the night, but are still hopeful it will happen soon!

Lily: 2 Months
Look who has learned how to smile!
It has been quite a busy month for us! Lily started smiling and cooing earlier this month and loves to be talked to. She got to meet her Aunts Sarah and Heidi and her Uncles Alex, Shawn and Frank. We celebrated Dad's birthday at the beach with his sisters while they were in town. Lily has slept through the night a few times, but still tends to wake up once or twice a night. She is on a really great schedule during the day and we are starting to get our bedtime routine worked out. She has been sleeping in her crib in her room for almost a week now. She's stayed with a sitter a few times and hasn't skipped a beat. She takes a bottle really well and loves her pacifier- especially when she is tired. At the beginning of the month she tended to be fussy in the evenings from 7-9, but she seems to have outgrown that. We ended the month with a visit to the doctor for her 2 month check up. She weighed 12 pounds, 6 ounces (85%) and is 23 inches long (85%). She got a few immunizations, but did not fuss much at all! She is such a sweet baby and is getting big fast!
Fortunately, her brothers still love her too!

4 Year Old Checkup
Last week we finally made it to the doctor for Jude's 4 year old check up. He weighed in at 37 pounds (75%) and is 41 3/4 inches tall (75%). He was a little upset about getting some immunizations, but bounced back pretty quickly.
We also attended Jude's Thanksgiving celebration at preschool. His class did a great job singing on stage.

2 Year Check Up
Last week, Jude went in for his 2 year check up. He weighed in at 27 pounds (50%) and is 36.5 inches tall (90%). Noah tagged along with us to the doctor- and for the first time, it was not chaos with both boys there! Noah sat quietly and drew pictures while Dr. Sanchez examined Jude. He said that everything looks great and was satisfied with his speech development. Jude is picking up new words each day and it seems like we are on the verge of a vocabulary explosion... at least we hope so! The frustration level is getting pretty high as he tries to communicate his desires! We are working on it though!

Growing Like Weeds
We went to the doctor a few weeks ago for Noah's 3 year appointment and Jude's 18 month appointment. It is definitely easier on my schedule to take them at the same time, but it is not easier to control both of them together for the exam. I think next time I will opt for separate appointments!
Jude now weighs in at 25 pounds, 4 ounces (50%) and is 34 inches tall (90%). There is still some concern over his delay in speech- but since our appointment he has picked up a few new words. He can now say Mama, Dada, Noah, Hot, Go Go, Uh Oh, and Hi. We are making more of an effort to give him the opportunity to answer questions and stopping Noah from talking for him- and it seems to be making a difference!
Noah is still so big for his age! He now weights 42 pounds (97%) and is 41.5 inches tall (97%). There is no doubt that he is going to grow up to be a very tall man!

12 Months

Jude went to the doctor yesterday for his one year check up. He weighed in at 23 pounds, 15 ounces (75%) and is 31 inches tall (90%). Everything checked out great and he got 4 shots. Noah also got a surprise flu shot while we were there. He was such a big boy and did not even cry. As a reward for being so well behaved, we stopped by the park after our doctor visit.

9 months!
Jude had his 9 month well visit with the doctor this morning. He weighed in at 21 pounds, 12 ounces (75%) and is 30 1/4 inches (95%). He got a few shots but recovered pretty quickly. The doctor said that everything looks great and was impressed with his standing and cruising abilities. He also said that Jude's annoying habit of grinding his teeth is normal and hopefully he'll outgrow that habit quickly! Overall he is a happy, healthy 9 month old.

Noah went to play at his friend Emsley's house while I took Jude to the doctor. I had hoped that maybe he would get inspired to start using the potty since Emsley is working on being potty trained, but no such luck. I think we'll wait a little longer before we take on that challenge.

Stitchless
Noah had his stitches removed this morning by his pediatrician. He sat perfectly still while she snipped them out- it was really painless! It probably helped that I promised him Batman fruit snacks if he sat there and let her fix his boo-boo. Fruit snacks are currently our best secret weapon for bribing Noah.

Vacation 2008- What not to do on Vacation

We were visiting a friend on Friday and Noah went running for the car, tripped and his head hit the hubcap of our car! When Ben picked him up, he was covered in blood! We rushed to the ER where they put 3 stitches on Noah's head. He already had a black eye from a toy fight with his cousin Jack the day before, so needless to say, vacation was not too nice to Noah!

Noah doesn't seem to notice the stitches and we are scheduled to get them removed on Wednesday. Keeping with the pain theme, Jude cut his top 2 teeth while we were vacationing (he now has 4 teeth). He didn't mind too much though!

Ouch!
As recommended at our last doctor visit, Jude went back today to have his ears checked. Turns out he has a double ear infection! And we didn't even know it! Jude has been prescribed Amoxicillin so I guess we will no longer be antibiotic virgins. Hopefully he will respond well and be feeling better soon!
P.S. Jude weighed in at 20 pounds 15 ounces

6 months!

Can you believe it? Jude is already 6 months old! We went in today for his 6 month check up. He weighed in at 20 pounds 6 ounces and is 28 inches tall (90% for both)! After looking at the measurements and looking at Noah standing there, Dr. Sanchez said that we definitely have some very tall boys on our hands and that will most likely carry on into their adult lives. Jude did great during the appointment and Noah played with his cars the entire time. Jude has a little fluid in his ears (most likely left over from our colds last week). We decided not to start an antibiotic right now and instead we are going back in to have him check them again in a few weeks, just to make sure an infection doesn't develop. He only cried a little bit after his FOUR shots! Noah made sure to tell him "you alright Jude".

Another Doctor Visit
Noah went in for his 2 year appointment on Friday. He weighed in at 31.5 pounds (75%) and is 39 inches tall (97%). The doctor said that he is taller than most 3 year olds! It was by far the most difficult visit to the doctor's office that we have had- I guess that is what happens with 2 year olds! Noah did not want to stand on the scale, did not want to have his temperature taken and especially did not want to get a shot. It was also really great when he kept telling the nurse that she was scary! Fortunately, Grandma was able to come into town and keep Jude- otherwise I may have had a complete meltdown alongside Noah! The doctor gave us lots of helpful advice on getting Noah to be a little more adventurous with his eating habits. He was also really impressed when we told him that Noah can count to 10, knows his colors and some shapes (we're really impressed too)!!

Another Birthday!
Jude is 4 months old today! We went to the doctor this morning for his well baby checkup. He weighed in at 18 pounds, 10 ounces and is 27 inches tall. The doctor was very impressed with his size and said Jude is ready to start solid foods. We’re planning to try out some rice cereal later this week. Hopefully he’ll like it. Jude also got four shots and one oral vaccination. Noah behaved during the entire visit and declared “Jude Sad” after the nurse was done giving Jude his shots (and Jude was screaming)!

Big Boy!
Jude went in for his 2 month check up yesterday. He weighed in at 13 pounds 14.5 ounces and was 24.5 inches (97% for both). The doctor said everything looked great!

Big Guy!
We took Jude to the doctor Friday for his 2 week check up. He weighed in at 9 pounds, 9 ounces! The doctor said that everything looks great and we have his follow up hearing test scheduled for late November. Regina was here for the weekend and was such a big help. She cooked 8 freezer ready meals for us and spent most of Sunday cleaning our house. She even scrubbed the bathtubs! We are so thankful that she was able to come visit and spend time with our family.

18 Month Check Up
Noah turned 18 months yesterday and this morning we went to the doctor for his check up. He measured in at 36 inches (above 100%) and 28 pounds (75%). The doctor seemed pleased with his development, especially his ever growing vocabulary. Noah did not enjoy the visit though, mainly because it involved strangers poking at him. At one point, I had to pin him down to the table while he screamed so that the doctor could check his ears and throat!
I asked the doctor how to best go about introducing Noah to his baby brother in a few weeks. He recommended that we just be relaxed about it and not worry too much about Noah's reaction. Obviously we are going to have a few bad days here and there, but if we don't make a big deal about the new addition, then Noah will be quicker to adjust and accept his new brother. I guess we will just have to wait and see!

Nine Month Update
Today we went to the doctor for Noah's nine month checkup. He now weighs 22 pounds, 5 ounces (75%) and is 31 inches tall (97%). The doctor said that he wasn't ready to project Noah's future height, but was willing to say that Noah will not be a short man! He also suggested that we start Noah on table foods... whatever we are eating, just smashed up a little bit. We tried that tonight with grilled chicken and asparagus and he LOVED it. He was grabbing it by the handful and shoving it in his mouth. It was a pretty messy dinner, but he was happy. It should make for a great first Thanksgiving for Noah. He also got the flu shot today so hopefully we can prevent him from getting sick this winter. Our next visit is for his 1 year appointment- only 2.5 months away! Can you believe it?
