We went to the doctor a few weeks ago for Noah's 3 year appointment and Jude's 18 month appointment. It is definitely easier on my schedule to take them at the same time, but it is not easier to control both of them together for the exam. I think next time I will opt for separate appointments!
Jude now weighs in at 25 pounds, 4 ounces (50%) and is 34 inches tall (90%). There is still some concern over his delay in speech- but since our appointment he has picked up a few new words. He can now say Mama, Dada, Noah, Hot, Go Go, Uh Oh, and Hi. We are making more of an effort to give him the opportunity to answer questions and stopping Noah from talking for him- and it seems to be making a difference!
Noah is still so big for his age! He now weights 42 pounds (97%) and is 41.5 inches tall (97%). There is no doubt that he is going to grow up to be a very tall man!

2009 Annual Bird Feeder Contest
We hosted our Annual Bird Feeder Contest this year and we all think it was the best one yet! There were numerous contenders for the "Best in Show" award and we are proud to say that BEN won!! His modern design and supreme use of the power tools secured him the winning trophy- well there is not really a trophy, but he does get bragging rights! As you can see, he is very proud!
Shawn put up quite a fight, he even lobbied that Ben's feeder was really a squirrel feeder. His design was great, but in the end, he did not win.
Here is what the rest of us could come up with in 2 hours and shared materials from the garage!
Alex went with the minimalist approach:
Sherry went with the cute approach:
Shelley went with the holiday inspired approach:
Mike went with a basic approach:
But in the end, it was the kids who had all of the fun! They got to get naked and paint!
Wonder who will take the prize next year?!

McDonald Family Baptism
Mom, Noah and Jude were all baptized last Sunday at Riverside Presbyterian Church.
Aunt Shelley came to Jacksonville for the weekend to help celebrate. It was pretty difficult to keep the kids under control during the service and they managed to make most of the congregation laugh. Noah kept screaming "HI!" to his babysitter and Jude pulled down a sash from the pulpit! If nothing else, at least our baptism was entertaining! Grandma planned a really nice luncheon at our house after church and we were able to celebrate with family and friends all afternoon.
