Santa, Take 2

I feel like I must offer some sort of explanation for why I am included in the Santa photo. This morning we took a little adventure to the mall so that Noah could meet Santa and have his picture taken. We got there pretty early, so we waited in line for Santa with all of the other excited children. Once he got there he did a lap around "Santa's Workshop" to greet the children and when he got to Noah we got our first signal that maybe Noah wasn't as excited to meet Santa as we thought he would be. He hid his head and put the death grip on my arm.... but we were determined that he was going to get his picture taken. Once it was our turn we walked up to Santa and put Noah on his lap.... and you guessed it, he started crying! I tried to give him a minute to get to know Santa... but Santa's elf was in a hurry and told me that I was going to have to be in the picture. So that's how I ended up in Noah's first picture with Santa. Don't worry if my explanation was not enough, Ben got it all on video!

Reading a book and walking

Noah is getting pretty good at walking, but apparently doesn't like to do it on camera. Here is some footage of him enjoying a story from Mom and then Dad making him walk for the camera.

Been a while

So we are kind of slacking on keeping up with things recently, but we are hoping to improve soon. Sorry we don't have any pictures with this post, our camera docking station is not connected to the computer right now, so we are just walking around with a camera full of a month's worth of pictures- including shots of Noah at his first Thanksgiving. Hopefully we will snap out of our laziness and download the photos for everyone to enjoy.
Our trip to Virginia went really well. Noah was a real angel and behaved for the majority of our 10 hour car ride each way. Aunt Leigh and Frank were kind enough to let us crash at their house to break up the trip there. On the way back we did it all in one day and it wasn't too bad.
We did manage to put up the Christmas tree this weekend. It looks pretty good but Noah thinks it is a little strange that we have a tree with lights inside of our house. Fortunately it is located in a room that we don't frequent very often so I don't have to constantly worry that Noah is going to pull it down.
Noah went to his first birthday party today. He didn't really like the birthday hat that Dad tried to make him wear, but he did like the cake!
Noah is getting pretty good at walking. He can usually take around 10 steps before falling. The walking is resulting in lots of mishaps- so pictures of Noah's first Christmas are bound to include black eyes and bruises on the face.

Nine Month Update

Today we went to the doctor for Noah's nine month checkup. He now weighs 22 pounds, 5 ounces (75%) and is 31 inches tall (97%). The doctor said that he wasn't ready to project Noah's future height, but was willing to say that Noah will not be a short man! He also suggested that we start Noah on table foods... whatever we are eating, just smashed up a little bit. We tried that tonight with grilled chicken and asparagus and he LOVED it. He was grabbing it by the handful and shoving it in his mouth. It was a pretty messy dinner, but he was happy. It should make for a great first Thanksgiving for Noah. He also got the flu shot today so hopefully we can prevent him from getting sick this winter. Our next visit is for his 1 year appointment- only 2.5 months away! Can you believe it?

Noah in a few years - take 2

Sherry got jealous of my baby picture being on the blog, so she busted into my office and demanded that I put up a picture of her. So here it is.

Hanging with Friends

We had a great weekend. Ham and Genie were kind enough to babysit Noah for us while we went to a baby shower brunch on Saturday for our friends Brad and Heather. They will be welcoming a new playmate for Noah around November 22. We also went to a pig roast Saturday afternoon. These pictures are of Noah and his friend Kirby playing on the grass!

Road Trip

10-23-06_1
Originally uploaded by beebe4.
We have finally made a decision- we are driving to Virginia for Thanksgiving. Needless to say, I think this will be our most interesting road trip to date. Let’s see: 10 hours in the car + baby who doesn’t really like the car = someone left on the side of I-95. Anyone want to make a bet on who it’s going to be?

HowTo: Make Noah Money

I was talking to my sister, and although she is not the most technical human on this planet, she is not the least... regardless, she said she didn't understand how to help contribute to Noah's college beer fund. So here are some simple instructions:

1) Visit this blog daily
- For those of you that get emails, you have to actually come to http://mcdonaldbaby.blogspot.com
- Save it as your homepage, that way every time you open up a new internet browser window we will get a page hit, versus giving that page view away for free to some other site that you don't even know.
- Use the search form I have added (another reason to make it your homepage). I get additional money from Google for being the person to direct searches to their site
2) Click on the Ads on the top of the page (there have been a lot of Harry Potter and "Are you a super Mom?" ads so far), and the Ads in pink on the lower right side.
- You don't have to read anything, just click on the ad, let the page load, and then click the back button
- If it is interesting feel free to keep clicking, our site will be here when you get back

Noah has earned up to $1 for 6 unique clicks in a day, so if you guys actually do this, then there is no telling how much Noah might actually earn.

So, that is basically it. We get paid based on how many times the page is loaded and how many times people click on ads on this site, and how many times people perform searches on this site.

So get to clicking, pretty please!

Interesting

So I create software for a living (and that is what I am good at, and will remember that for the rest of my life). And in an effort to make myself money, I was looking at the Ads currently on my site. One of them was for some Parenting Software. Their tagline "Turn arguing into earning." I think it is some charting tools and point tracking... but that is just too damn wired to me. Software to help you raise your kid?!?!? You gotta be kidding me!

Seems like a really bad idea to me, or maybe I am just jealous.... nope I thought about it and it is a bad idea.

Clapping

Here is a proud video of Noah clapping, taken from my new cell phone. He burps right at the beginning but you can't really make it out. And yes that is me, Ben, sounding like a lame cheerleader saying "yeaaaa" in the background.

Good Night

I took this picture a few days ago while Noah and Sherry were taking their daily nap (does my jealousy come through in that font?) It is a little grainy due to the fact that it was with my new camera phone.

Thank you

I am currently working while Sherry and Noah are in bed. But I look at a pictures like this and I just want to say thank you. Thank you Sherry, for being a wonderful mother and wife, and thank you for Noah. Thank you Noah, for being. Thank you God for being so good to me.

Good night all.

Social Butterfly

Today we went to a new playgroup hosted by our friend Bebe and her little boy Kirby. We got to meet a few new people and see some of our old friends from our regular Friday playgroup. Noah is becoming quite the social butterfly! He loves to play with the other babies and I like to interact with other moms :) Today's outing didn't last very long because Noah was overdue for his morning nap.
Tomorrow we are headed to our usual playgroup- we have missed out on it for a while because we have been traveling. We are planning on taking all of the kids to a pumpkin patch to take pictures. It should be fun!

Everyone's Home

Noah and Mom made it home today much to the joy of Dad. So the first thing Dad did was take some video of him to show off how well he is crawling, standing up (with help from appropriately sized furniture), and cruising.

So here it is:

Coming Home

Noah & Sherry are coming home today! Bells and I can't wait.

I got the floor laid at my mom's this weekend, and am therefore very sore. But I do have to say that it looks great.

I was talking to my mom and she said that she didn't see the Noah College sponsership ads I put on the website...and I realized that a lot of you only read the emails and do not visit the site. So I figured I would ask you guys to click on the link to the website inside of the email and / or make this blog a favorite or even better... make it your homepage, I will promise that we post at least one article a day to make it worth your while.

College Update

Lonely Ben checking in here...

So the update on the money makers I put on Noah's site is that so far today we have made $1.85 for the college fund.... not to bad! At this rate he will have $55 a month put into his college fund and by the time he is 18 it will be $11,880. So if we factor in the rate of college increases, he should be able to by a weeks worth of lunches with that much money.

Maybe I should try to go on a publicity stunt and make Noah out as the first kid to have every single aspect of his life blogged! He could be famous at 8 months old. Just hope I can keep it up.

I am about to head down to "the river house" and help Mom and Don put in a parquet floor in the upstairs bedroom. So don't expect much over the next few days.

But until then...here is your moment of zen:

Bored

So since Sherry and Noah are up in Norfolk, I have decided to make some updates the the blog. I added some ads that you guys can click on to help us pay for Noah's college. The more you click on them the more money we make so do it at least once a day and share our site with your friends.

Sherry also posted some pictures of our trip on my Yahoo Photos site (since Flickr keeps limiting us).

I will try to post some other pictures that are currently only on computers or cameras this weekend while Noah is away.

So I know I say this a lot, but NOAH IS BIG. He is just so big. When I got up this morning I was having a need to see him, so I walked into his room and it is just amazing to see how long he is and how much of the crib he now takes up. He can cruise, he can crawl really fast on all types of surfaces. It is just really amazing to think how much he is learning and growing, and how fast it all happens.

Maybe I should stop trying so hard to teach him the next developmental step... but then again I need to start training him for his NFL career.

Home Again, just for a minute

Noah Key West
Originally uploaded by beebe4.
We made it back safely on Saturday from our vacation in Marathon Key. We spent most of the week relaxing in the sun and hanging out with friends. We did go deep sea fishing one day- which promptly resulted in Sherry getting sick. We also went snorkeling and took a day trip to Key West. Leigh was a huge help and Noah really enjoyed her company. She even took him to the dolphin research center (right next to our house) to watch the dolphins perform.
Dad left for Atlanta on Tuesday and will return Wednesday night.
Mom and Noah are headed to Virginia on Thursday - they'll return on Monday.
Boy, it is busy around here! Check out the vacation pictures on flickr.

Crawling with Tevas on

Here is a video of Noah crawling with his Tevas on. I don't think he really likes them, as he likes to stand on his tippy toes (that is when we help him into a standing postion and hold his hands). This was right before he went to the "Go-ci-toe" (aka Grocery Store) with us and then he was off to the Art Show with Mom and Bebe (not to be confused with Beebe).

Day at the Zoo
Originally uploaded by beebe4.
Sorry we haven't been too good with posting recently, we've been (and are) busy!
Noah's cousins, Taylor and Caitlin, came to visit last week. We went to the beach and to the zoo while we were here. Turns out that the Jacksonville Zoo is pretty nice! Noah didn't seem to notice the animals... but he enjoyed being strolled around outside.
Noah also has mastered the skill of crawling. He can go pretty much anywhere he pleases and can get into the sitting position on his own.
Noah can also wave!! He moves his entire arm and up and down, but we think it qualifies as a wave. He has 3.5 teeth (one has not quite broken through).
So basically it has been such an eventful month that we haven't had time to blog about it! I posted a few pics on flickr, so check them out.
Dad's out of town for the week, so we'll try to post pictures and updates!

6 Month Inspection

We took Noah to the doctor this morning for his 6 month appointment. He now weighs 20 pounds and is 29 inches long. The doctor was impressed with his sitting skills and babbling- and was not so impressed with his sleeping skills. He recommended that we attempt the "cry it out" method. According to the doc, we are supposed to let him cry for however long it takes for him to fall back asleep. Maybe 30 minutes, 60 minutes or even 90 minutes!! Ben was ecstatic to hear the doctor make this recommendation. He's been eager to let Noah cry it out since birth. I am still on the fence about the whole thing. The doctor also recommended that we go ahead and lower the crib mattress to its lowest setting. He gave me the visual of Noah learning to stand up while "crying it out" and then falling out of the crib. Ben is going to adjust the crib as soon as he's done with work.

Restful Night

Last night Noah slept through the night. Well, he slept from 10:00 until 5:00. For those of you who are not quick with the math, that is 7 hours without eating!! Which means that I actually slept for 7 consecutive hours, the longest I have slept in 6 months!! This is reason to celebrate in our house.
The only other time that he has done anything even similar to this was on day 4... he slept from 12:00 am to 5:00 am and we were convinced that our baby was going to sleep through the night every night. Boy were we wrong!
It hasn't been THAT bad though.. when he does wake up he normally just nurses for a few minutes and goes right back to bed. The only annoying thing is that recently he has started doing this 3 or 4 times a night when previously he was only waking once or twice. Oh, it is also annoying when people give you that look of shock when you say your 6 month old does not sleep through the night. The reality is that I will probably miss those night feedings when they completely stop because that will be one more sign that Noah is growing up.
But for now, we are happy with the one night of 7 hours of sleep. Maybe it will happen again tonight, maybe it won't. Regardless, we still have the best baby in the world :)

Dad is still in California and is supposed to return tomorrow night. It will be nice to have us all home again together- it has been way too long!

Noah and I are going to Virginia on Wednesday to visit Grammy and everyone else. Dad will be joining us on Friday and we will all return on the 30th! We will even get to welcome a new addition to our family while we are there. Shawn and Regina's baby girl is scheduled to arrive on July 26th. She still doesn't have a name but hopefully they can agree on something before they bring her home from the hospital! We'll be sure to post pictures of the new bundle of joy when we return.

My Feet!

Noah's most recent discovery is that he has feet. This morning we went to a friends house to visit and play with other babies, but Noah just laid there staring at his own feet- even spent some time putting them in his mouth. He wasn't interested in the toys that the other babies were playing with because his feet were way more interesting! Often when we go check on him in his crib, he is just laying there holding his feet, trying to figure them out. I guess we should feel lucky that he doesn't need any fancy toys that can be dropped or forgotten somewhere- he's content to have toys that are attached to his legs in the form of feet!

Fun with Food

We've been having lots of fun with food this week- we have even added sweet potatoes to our menu. Noah seems to be getting the hang of eating, although he gets super excited about it and ends up trying to smile so big that the food runs out both sides of his mouth.
We had a great father's day at the beach. We spent the afternoon lounging under an umbrella and had a great seafood feast for dinner.
Aunt Mandy is coming to visit this weekend. We are all very excited for her to finally meet Noah!

Mom's Day

I had a great first Mother's Day! We went to Biscotti's for lunch and the weather was nice enough (aka not too hot) that we could sit outside and enjoy it. After lunch, Ben started on my requested gift- a laundry area makeover. For those of you who haven't been to our home, our laundry area is in the garage. Ben put up new shelves, unpacked boxes that were crowding the area, hung a new light and cleaned up the utility sink. As you can see from the photo- it turned out great!

Getting So Big!

He was on the floor with Dad having a little tummy time, and he just rolled right over! Then he did it 3 more times- it was really amazing. Noah also got to play our new piano that his grandfather gave us this weekend. We can't wait for him to take lessons and become the greatest pianist in the world! Not that we have great expectations of him or anything! :) Needless to say it was a great weekend and an even greater three months.

I have hands!

It is amazing to watch him learn how to touch things and pick them up. His favorite toy right now is Blog, the Blue Dog- named by Aunt Sarah. He also really likes to touch your face (and pull hair) when you are holding him!

Not much has been going on here. We've been going on walks every day and getting lots of use out of the stroller. We also made plans for our next visit with Grammy in Virginia, May 18th through 23rd. It looks like Mom will be handling this one solo, so hopefully everything will go great on the plane. Mom has started back at work.... we are still trying to figure out our daily schedule- it is getting better though!

River House Fun

We spent Saturday at the River House with Grandma & Grandpa, Aunt Sarah & Heidi, Aunt Leigh & Frank, Robert & Callie and Noah's new friend Ryn. As you can see from the photo, Noah is just a LITTLE bigger than Ryn and she is 3 weeks older! Everyone agreed that Noah looked that a giant. I guess that is what happens when you like to eat as much as Noah does and you are in the 95th percentile for your age. We had a great time visiting with everyone and hope to do it again soon. Next time we will have a life jacket for Noah so that we can all go on a boat ride!

Doctors and Visitors

Noah went to the doctor on Wednesday for my 2 month checkup. Technically Noah was already 10 weeks old, but due to our extended stay in Virginia, we had to reschedule.
The doctor said Noah is doing great! He was being a show-off so the doc got to see him smile and coo. Naturally, he was very impressed. Noah weighed in at 15 pounds and 24.5 inches. He is in the 95% for both weight and height!
Aunt Sarah and Heidi flew in on Wednesday and we've been having a great time! Tomorrow we are headed down to the River for the day to visit with everyone. We'll be sure to take lots of pictures!

At the advice of Grammy, we went out and bought a new toy- the Kick and Crawl Aquarium! I can lay on the floor to play with the fish and kick the ball with my feet. It is very entertaining! Aunt Sarah and Heidi are coming to visit today- it should be an exciting week!

We've been busy unpacking since we came back from Virginia. Noah has grown so much that he is ready to move up to 3-6 month clothing! Who knew we would have such a big baby. His 2 month checkup is next week- I can't wait to see how much he weighs. He is a professional smiler now and he even coos sometimes when you talk to him.

In case you didn't notice, 1 week in Virginia turned into 2.5! Dad had to go to California for a week, so we decided to stay a little longer and visit with Grammy and the rest of the family. Be sure to check the rest of my pictures out...there are some of me with all sorts family. We're still unpacking and settling back in, but we'll be sure to post again tomorrow!
